It was a lengthy conversation, one I will spare you, but it all came down to this: People say all the time we don't get "fall" in Florida. We don't get the leaves changing color (ok, some do...but mostly not until winter). We don't get the crisp, chilly air (it gets Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-54760047391318885672011-08-22T22:45:00.000-04:002014-09-15T01:11:25.141-04:00In The Meantime.....We are slowly ticking off our summer checklist one by one...hopefully to have most of it completed by the end of summer. Since we home school year round, our "summer" is really just the hottest months of the year...not when we are on leave from school. Honestly, summer is my least favorite time of year. It's so stinkin hot here in Central Florida. It rains almost every single afternoon as well. Not this year!!!!! Ok, it wasn't "big" and it wasn't exactly on the 25th...but it was still fun!
With Christmas music playing in the background, the lights twinkling on the small tree and turkey roasting in the oven, the boys awakened to the return of our beloved elf, Jingles! If you know my son, you know his love for Selena Gomez has been ongoing for year. YEARS. And he's only 10. It first started when he saw her on Spy Kids and immediately started crushing on her. By the time she was on Wizards of Waverly Place, it was a full fledged case of puppy love. We were sad to end our vacation, but happy to be flying back home to Am today! We missed him so, so much while we were away.
We packed up the rest of our stuff, trying to find a place for all our souvenirs we had purchased, and we each took a few minutes to look out the window and take in the Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-89344239717073414652011-06-13T00:43:00.000-04:002014-09-15T01:01:53.507-04:00New York City Trip Report: Day 3, Part 3After our delicious dinner at Shake Shack, we walked a few blocks to the Path Station and we were off for Hoboken in no time. The train was crowded, but we snagged a few seats in the front car.
Back in Hoboken, it was still pretty early in the evening so we decided to take a stroll up to Carlo's Bakery. The boys had no interest in the TV show, but I had seen it a few times in the past. It was a fantastic experience, but not something I was in a rush to do again. The lines are long; it can take alllll day just to see her up close on the island. We just didn't have that kind of time on this trip, but A still wanted to see the statue. The sun was just barely rising over the city and as I checked out the view from bed, I noticed a gigantic cruise ship was about to pass by on the river. It was pretty neat, and made me realize just how wide the river is and how humongous downtown Manhattan truly was!
Just as I was about to jump back into bed for a few more zzz's, I heard a faint Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-23833645869242872652011-05-08T21:45:00.000-04:002011-05-08T21:45:05.281-04:00New York City: Day Two, Part TwoAs we were heading out of Central Park, we made our way over to the Plaza. Again, Alex and I have watched Home Alone 2: Lost In New York so many times...we just had to take a peak inside. It actually reminds me of the Grand Floridian in WDW. It's just a tad to frilly and gold and over the top for our tastes. But it was still fun to take a peak inside.

We had originally set our alarms for 7am, but Stephen and I were both up before they actually went off. I guess we were just too excited to get the day going! The TV news promised us a sunny, warmer day and we wanted to take full advantage! We had plans for lots of outdoor time today.
We were quickly changed and ready to go! The walk to the PATH station was quick and simple, and Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-50470519164696821552011-04-19T21:23:00.000-04:002014-09-15T00:56:30.745-04:00Spring Is......

I no longer frequent that message board for a variety of personal reasons, but I still enjoy writing trip reports! Here is the start of my report on New York City, April of 2011!

We decided to just take A on this trip to NYC. Little Am is just too young to really Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-15551477671962872362011-01-09T00:36:00.000-05:002014-09-15T00:47:42.386-04:002011
2010 was a great year. It wasn't perfect. There were a few hiccups along the way, but nothing we couldn't overcome. It was a nice change of pace considering 2008 and 2009 were pretty rough. This past year we went on some fun family adventures, explored Central Florida, went on a few vacations, spent a lot of time playing and enjoyed each other's company like never before. It was a good, good Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-6163854651210354062011-01-01T23:44:00.000-05:002014-09-15T00:45:56.886-04:00Christmas
Christmas was fantastic. Words can't even express just how very good it was! We have been waiting for my brother to be matched with a kidney donor now for over 2 years....and just a few short days before Christmas, we received word that he has a match!!!! My Aunt's partner is going to donate her kidney!!! It was such a joyous celebration on Christmas Eve when we all got together to celebrate.

We typically read one a night (sometimes more). The books are starting to get a little young for A so we may have to get a few more during the post-holiday sales! Some years I pick 24 books and wrap them individually. We then pick from a basket every night to read before bedtime. Today I'm so very, very thankful to all the veterans of this great country. Without their bravery, strength and courage, America would not be the land of liberty or the home of the free. A very special thank you to my personal favorite veteran, my Dad. I'm thankful for being blessed with a family that loves the holiday season just as much as I do!!! You see, in this household, we believe you can be thankful AND have Christmas decorations in your house in November. I'll give you a little hint as to what we did this week...more pictures to come soon!

I'm thankful for this little baby face in the morning. His eyes are always a little puffy, he always is sporting a little crustiness and his breathe isn't exactly delicious. BUT his little smiling face in the morning can make any early wake-up pleasant. He's extra snugly, extra smiley and extra yummy in the morning.Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-24492831095875651512010-11-12T00:50:00.000-05:002014-09-15T01:16:46.178-04:00Game Night!November 8:
I'm so very thankful we have family game night pretty often! Am is still a little too young to enjoy the board games, but he'll get his fair share of them soon enough! A usually picks out a few games; and before long, we're giggling and having a good time. Our current favorites are Hedbanz, Trouble Star Wars Edition, Clue Jr and Scrabble. Sometimes we break out the Wii for Kellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272566104776571576noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-920376978192702018.post-81139581197621968042010-11-12T00:39:00.000-05:002014-09-15T01:16:16.320-04:00Just call me Tyler Durden!November 7:
I'm thankful for Ikea! It's one of my favorite stores, and the low prices allow us to furnish our house with some fun and functional items! The kids LOOOOVE going there. They try out all the rooms and insist on lying on each bed, relaxing on every couch and playing with every single toy. It's worth going there just for the Swedish meatballs and lingonberry sauce, too!

Today I am thankful for my kitchen. I decided to make baked potato soup, homemade butter rolls and cinnamon rolls for dinner tonight. It's so chilly out (real feel of 38 tonight!!!! ) that a warm soup was in order. And what's a warm soup without a good bread? And what's a nice warm dinner without a yummy warm dessert? But even more than that, I'm thankful for being blessed to have warm, comfy pajamas for my babies. It hit me like a ton of bricks, as I was changing my toddler into his footy jammies tonight. I wonder how many mothers out there don't have warm clothes for their babies?
